CCR Question #1 Draft
Throughout Follow Through, conventions are used to convey a story of a character, Dawson, pursuing an extreme activity. The first convention is Dawson as a young kid who is attempting to start a journey in scootering, linked with an important convention, a scooter as a prop, which can be seen in multiple camera shots. The setting is at a skatepark, which is important because this is the natural environment for this type of activity. The prop, Dawson, as the main character, and location in the setting change throughout the film to deliver a theme that consists of skill development and persistence. Music is playing throughout the film to establish mood. The film represents social groups and issues by showing a kid who is looking for something new to do but struggles with mental blocks and self-doubt. The social group that the characters are the transitions from young children to young adults.
